My Story

I'm Elena Dumitrescu

In 2017, I received my first camera as a gift, and little did I know, that simple present would ignite a passion that would forever change my life. As I experimented with its settings, I fell deeply in love with photography. Soon, I found myself dreaming of owning my own professional studio, but I knew that dream would require sacrifice. Determined to make it happen, I transformed my living room into my very first studio, selling the furniture to invest in my first set of studio lights.

Driven by a love for family photography, I began capturing every moment I could—maternity, newborns, and babies—almost always for free, dedicating every bit of my limited free time outside of my day job for 3 years. Those three years weren’t wasted; they were the foundation I built my career on. Every session, every challenge, refined my skills and deepened my understanding of newborn and maternity photography.

I quickly learned that newborn photography, in particular, is no easy feat. But those years of humble beginnings, of perfecting my craft, shaped me into the photographer I am today. They gave me the strength and knowledge to turn my dream into a successful business, one that allows me to not only pursue my passion but also cherish my time with family.

In 2024, a dream turned into reality—I was honored to be named Best Newborn Photographer at the Romanian Visual Awards, with my heartfelt project, "My First Furry Friends." Judged by 11 esteemed professional photographers, my images were chosen for their composition, lighting, posing, and editing, and the award, presented by Sony, was a moment I will cherish forever.

As I stood there, holding that trophy, waves of emotion washed over me. It wasn’t just an award—it was a powerful confirmation that what I create is more than just photographs. Each image is a legacy, a timeless gift for the parents who entrust me with their most precious memories.

Through my lens, I don’t just capture moments—I preserve love, innocence, and the fleeting beauty of new beginnings. And that, to me, is the greatest honor of all.

Nurturing a New Generation of Storytellers

For the past few years, I have had the honor of guiding aspiring photographers on their journey, helping them refine their craft and discover the magic within newborn photography.

This art is more than a profession—it is a calling, a heartbeat, a legacy. Every image I create is a piece of my soul, a whisper of time frozen forever. That is why my greatest passion is to pass this gift forward, to nurture others in capturing the fleeting beauty of new life.
